I lost my home in the Paradise fire, thankfully that’s all I lost. My friends and neighbors were not as lucky as they also lost all their belongings. I didn’t have to try and remember everything I had like they did.  Since I was renting my house out, I only had to remember yard supplies and various things in the sheds. That was hard enough and I’m sure it wasn’t nearly complete.
I have one friend who is older and could not get her lists done. Together, we spent several months on it until she called it good enough for submission. It was exhausting and emotional for her, so we only took small portions at a time. In that long process she lost the list and we had to start over. I’d have her visualize rooms one by one in the house she lived in for decades.  It definitely is not something I want to see anyone go through again.
